The chair features a beige, 19 gauge, 7/8" tubular steel "Y-frame" structure, with a beige steel seat and backrest. It has double-riveted front and rear leg cross braces for enhanced stability.

The chair meets the American National Standards Institute/Business & Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (ANSI/BIFMA) standard for drop weight support of 300 lb. and supports a static weight of 480 lb. The 19 gauge, 5/8" steel double-riveted front and rear leg cross braces further contribute to the chair's stability.

The seat of the National Public Seating 50 Series folding chair has a rounded, "waterfall" front edge, which helps to reduce pressure on the back of the knees. The steel frame is powder coated for corrosion resistance, and the chair is equipped with replaceable polypropylene glides to protect floor surfaces.

Plastic plugs at the top of the back legs have a slot-shaped design that helps to hold the frame and add stability. These plugs and the floor glides match the frame color, providing a cohesive aesthetic.
